AN earth tremor was felt in Warrington in the early hours of this morning.
There are reports of houses 'shaking' across the town shortly before 1am.
Police say they received a number of calls reporting the earthquake but to date have no reports of any damage or injury.
Latchford resident Mike Parsons said: "I was sat at my computer desk upstairs when I suddenly felt a rumble.
"Then the whole house shook. I even went around the house checking walls for cracks because I was that concerned about it."
The British Geological Survey has confirmed an earthquake at just before 1am.
The epicenter was near Market Rasen in Lincolnshire and experts say the quake, measured at 5.3 on the scale, was felt as far away as London and Scotland.
It is the biggest quake in this country since 1984.
