FOLLOWING objections raised by residents, and the council, plans to build a new telephone mast in Croft have been rejected.
The proposals featured plans to construct the telecommunications on land off Spring Lane.
However, the mast was deemed 'visually intrusive' by planning officers, and planning permission has not been granted.
An objection was lodged by Springfield House Farm, which is opposite the proposed site of the mast, and the objection covered the outlook and 'overbearing impact' of the mast - as well as harm to the 'street scene and local area'.
The proposal was submitted on behalf of MBNL, a telecoms company jointly owned by EE and Three, two of the country's largest mobile operators.
Warrington Borough Transport also took issue with the proposed plans, saying that there could be complications that come with construction on the highway verge and above a culvert.
The plans were submitted for consideration at the end of June, and the final decision was made in the past few days.
In the decision report, the planning officers said: "The proposal, by virtue of its siting, design and appearance, will lead to a visually intrusive, obtrusive and incongruous form of development in this location that will result in significant harm to the visual appearance and character of the area and surrounding street scene.
"Also, by virtue of its siting and appearance, the proposal will lead to an overbearing form of development and loss of outlook that will result in significant harm to the visual amenity of the adjacent residential occupier to the site."
