MOTORISTS are advised that resurfacing work on four roundabouts in Sankey is scheduled to begin on March 10.
The works on Whittle Avenue and Lingley Green Avenue are expected to last for around four weeks and the actual start date will appear on signs in the area two weeks in advance.
Whittle Avenue / Tankersley Grove roundabout There will be a full road closure on the roundabout and along Whittle Avenue between Tankersley Grove and Sankey Way / Liverpool Road.
Westbound traffic on Sankey Way will use Liverpool Road and Lingley Green Avenue.
Eastbound traffic on Liverpool Road must take Sankey Way to the Roundabout, returning to Liverpool Road and Lingley Green Avenue.
Traffic on Whittle Avenue will follow Lingley Green Avenue and Liverpool Road.
Traffic on Tankersley Grove must follow Sycamore Lane, Hood Lane North & Cannons Road before joining Cromwell Avenue to Sankey Way, Liverpool Road and Lingley Green Avenue.
Whittle Avenue/Lingley Green Avenue/Malvern Close roundabout To assist motorists, works will be carried out under road closures at night between 7pm and 6.30am.
Whittle Avenue traffic will follow Westbrook Way, Cromwell Avenue, and Sankey Way.
Lingley Green Avenue traffic will be directed via Liverpool Road to join the diversion route to Westbrook Way.
Lingley Green Avenue/ Kingsdale Road roundabout Lingley Green Avenue/Omega Boulevard/Barrow Hall Lane roundabout There will be off-peak road closures between 9.30am and 3.30pm to minimise disruption.
The alternative route for both roundabouts will include Liverpool Road and Whittle Avenue.
Traffic on Barrow Hall Lane will be directed via Park Road and Station Road to join the other diversion route on Liverpool Road.
Malvern Close will be accessed from Whittle Avenue (south of the roundabout) through temporary traffic lights.
Access to Omega Boulevard will be from Lingley Green Avenue (east or west of the roundabout) depending upon the stage of the works.
All alternative routes will be signed during the works.
