A PRIMARY school with a history of being blighted by teenage vandals has had a new expensive piece of nursery equipment damaged by youths.
Great Sankey Primary School, on Liverpool Road, suffered £10,000 worth of damage at the hands of vandals two years ago.
Headteacher Jim Courtney thought that after installing CCTV and with increased patrols from PCSOs they had seen the back of troubles caused by nuisance youths.
But a luxury wendy house costing £1,100, put up three weeks ago for the three and four-year-olds, sustained more than £500 worth of damage on Sunday night after youths kicked off the doors, smashed the windows and tossed the veranda into the brook.
Mr Courtney said: "It was for our nursery children and they hadn't even had chance to use it before it was vandalised.
"We suffered an awful lot with vandalism two years ago and thought we had got over the worst of it but at Christmas we had the lead stripped off the school's roof and windows smashed.
"The site constantly has youths on it, drinking and having parties, although the PCSO's are very good at following up unwanted visitors.
"We have spent a fortune on developing the school but all the time we are up against this kind of thing, teenagers who are looking to destroy things, "We are now looking at putting up a £10,000 perimeter fence to stop the youths from getting in.
"It is very frustrating."
