GORSE Covert Primary School pupils are growing trees in cans as part of a recycling initiative which converts aluminium into fruit trees in Malawi.
The youngsters have been given a tree-growing kit containing everything needed to grow silver birch saplings which they will then plant at school from recycling company Alupro.
For every tonne of aluminium recycled a fruit tree will be planted in community nurseries in the south-east African country to cover a shortage.
