A CAMPAIGN to stop a housing development springing up on the site of an old people's home in Croft has succeeded.
Planning officials have written to concerned villagers to confirm that an application to demolish Croft House and build up to 20 affordable houses' has been withdrawn.
Campaigners had objected because the plan would swallow up green space around the site in Birchall Street, involve the demolition of a well-used community youth centre and put a strain on dwindling local amenities.
