TICKETS are selling fast for a Motown and soul night at the Daten in Culcheth next Saturday, February 16.
The Motown Band, an 11-piece featuring three singers and four horn players, will be joined by three DJs from Warrington Soul Club.
The band, which is made up of musicians from Culcheth, Winwick and Callands as well as Halton, Manchester and London, will play two 45-minute sets with DJs playing in between and then late into the night.
After making a name for themselves at their debut show at Manchester's Irish Heritage Centre, the band's saxaphonist, Ross Williams, is looking forward to playing his hometown.
"I think there's a resurgence in people's interest in live music generally," says 34-year-old Ross, fromTwiss Green Lane.
"I reckon Motown music holds a special place in the hearts of people and we're one of the few bands doing it and doing it on a scale it deserves."
The band expects the remaining tickets for the 350-capacity Daten to continue selling well next week and are urging music-lovers looking for a good night out to snap them up.
Tickets cost £10 in advance or £12 on the night. Doors open at 8pm. Call 0798 576 4587 or visit motownband.com
