Once again we run St Helens close but just couldn't take the spoils at the end.
I think you'll agree it was a good game to watch and i thought the quality of skill on display was really high.
Saints showed why they are a great team, they punished us every time we gave a penalty away or made an error with the ball.
We gave to many penalties away to be in with a chance of winning.
The positive we can take from this is that if we don't give those penalties away we win the game, its that plain and simple!
We have spoken about this as a group in video session and its not acceptable to make these mistakes.
Some of the decisions made by the referee are really harsh but we have said its not an excuse and we must work harder not to give these penalties away.
Its always tough at the beginning of the season because i personally don't think the referees are consistent in the decisions they give, but we'll be working hard this week to rectify the problem in training.
At the beginning of the second half we had the ball 4 times in 17 minutes and Saints score 3 quick tries, that's a lot of defending for us to do and it takes a lot of energy out of the team.
To beat any team this year, not just Saints we are going to have to go back to back sets with teams.
If we are defending that much in those spells its making our job a lot more difficult.
When we did have the ball i thought we looked good and i'm sure as the season goes on we'll get even better!
Some of the tries we scored were good and the team worked really hard to score them.
The forwards took the game to Saints and got us out of our own half really well and i think they deserve some credit.
Injuries to Chris Bridge and Matt King did not help us and i hope they are back with us soon as possible.
Bridgey as looked good in his new position of full back and its a shame he's got injured and i wish him all the best and a speedy recovery.
Matt king was gutted he had to leave the field on Friday night and hopefully he be fit and ready soon, he's looked real good in the games he's played so far.
This week is a tough Hull KR team who are looking good so far and who had a great win against Saints in there opening round.
Its always tough going to Hull and getting the points and a win, as we already know!
Hull KR have recruited well especially in the forward pack and its going to be a right battle when the whistle blows on sunday.
Its should be a really entertaining game and it will be a game we will have to be patient in if we are going to take the win.
I expect both defences will be tough and hard to break down because both teams will be desperate to get the win.
I hope we can get back to winning ways and do it in style and give you something to cheers about. The atmosphere at Hull KR is always a good one and i hope it will be the same Sunday and that you will come to support us and act as our 18th man.
After the Saints game Rob Parker came to training the next morning with one big purple ear that he had banged during the game!
When he had tape wrapped around his head to take the swelling down is head near exploded with the pressure and the top of his head went bright purple!
he looked like purple ronnie from the vimto advert!
Also Andy Bracek has been seen everyday this week in training wearing a bodybuilding vest!
everyone else is wearing bob caps and thermals and still freezing in the gym and Andy comes wearing a vest without a care in the world, the Aussies are amazed!
i think someone needs to tell him he ain't in Lanzarote no more haha.
Speak soon, Woody.
