And for the duration of the campaign, shoppers will be on the lookout for the Fairtrade mark which will be all over the town centre this fortnight.

Shops and eating places are celebrating the fortnight by selling Fairtrade foods and giving out leaflets with information on products and recipes.

The Fair 4 All,in Warrington Market, will be holding a Fairtrade Fun' event on Saturday from 10am to 4pm, which will include a giant snakes and ladders game, a chocolate fountain and a chance to enter an Easter card competition by making cards from Fairtrade goods packaging.

Christine Banton, a member of staff at Fair 4 All, said: "The point of the Fairtrade fortnight is to raise awareness of Fairtrade and hopefully people will think about buying Fairtrade products."

Michael Taylor, 45, from Kingswood, added: "It is important that people buy Fairtrade products, even if it is just bananas and coffee, as it means farmers can get a fair wage and can afford to feed their families."
