GREENALL'S bosses will learn this week if they have permission to sell land worth £15m to a developer.
The vodka and gin giant has re-submitted outline planning applications to build a combination of private and sheltered accomodation and business premises on the 19-acre site in Loushers Lane, Latchford.
The company hopes that having held a public consultation last October and worked closely with council officers to modify its plans, they will be approved by councillors on the borough council's development control committee.
It's famous plant was ravaged by fire after an arson attack almost three years ago and the company has built a smaller but more productive factory in Risley.
The scheme is over three sites and will include 178 homes and secure accomodation for the elderly on the largest site to the south of Loushers Lane, which would also include new access to the plot from the road and landscaped public green space.
The other two smaller sites would have two buildings for warehouses and distribution and a further six properties on land at China Lane.
Also set for approval at the planning meeting are the proposed demolition of the YMCA building, in Hamnett Court, Birchwood, to be replaced by a 40-bed care home for the elderly mentally ill and 78 other houses.
And a new wine bar in Culcheth, which has prompted residents to voice concerns that the village is becoming another Stockton Heath', is set to win permission to have its hours extended until 2am at weekends and Bank Holidays.
