A TALENTED dance group from Warrington has been shortlisted to compete in the Youth Dance England festival when it comes to the Parr Hall for the very first time.
Urban Footsteps, a dance class of youngsters aged between 11 and 19, will compete against rivals from across the north west at the national finals in London in July.
But first the group, which is part of the Pyramid Youth Dance Company, will be practising and holding open workshops for anyone interested in urban dance, which is a mix of street and jazz dance, in Warrington.
Dance teacher Leah Biddle praised the group for doing so well and urged others to join.
"I'm really proud of the group for getting to this stage - we are newly formed and their hard work and dedication has paid off," she said.
Clr Roy Smith, member for community services, added: "This is a really exciting opportunity for young people to showcase their talents on a regional and potentially national level.
"Urban Footsteps has excelled in its abilities since joining the class and it is great to be able to offer this opportunity to the young people of Warrington."
Urban Footsteps youth dance class takes place on Wednesdays from 5pm until 6pm in the Studio Theatre at Pyramid, and the company rehearses from 6pm until 6.30pm.
The class is open to everyone and the first session is free. Call Pyramid on 442345.
