A NEWTON man has appeared in magistrates court accused of benefit fraud.
Andrew Roberts, aged 37, pleaded guilty to one offence of furnishing false information with a view to obtaining council tax benefit.
This resulted in overpayment of benefit totalling £1,473.49.
He was given a conditional discharge, ordered to pay £40 prosecution costs and is required to pay back the full overpayment.
