NEWTON train station is to receive a major cash injection to improve customers' experience.
The developments, which will cost more than £332,000, include additional seating, a real-time sign to display train times, a height adjustable ticket counter, double hand rails and improved waiting room facilities.
Funding for the developments include grants from public transport coordinators Merseytravel and the Government .
A spokesperson for Merseytravel said: "This is part of a scheme to provide an integrated transport system that is suitable for all."
The work will take place during the next two years.
Discussions are also under way about giving giving the Grade I listed station a face-lift.
