DISTANCE runner Jordan Jones has moved into the top 50 under 23 UK road rankings for 5k runs.
This follows him smashing his personal best time for the distance by 12 seconds when finishing 10th in the Adizero Podium Distance Project road races at Barrowford around a flat cycle track.
In the one-mile race at the same event clubmate Chris Stanford finished in sixth in 4mins 28secs to go top of the over 40s UK rankings for the road mile.
Meanwhile, Warrington AC athletes produced 26 personal best performances in a heat-affected third round of the Cheshire League at Ellesmere Port on Sunday.
The 3000m, under 11s 600m and relays were withdrawn from the programme because of the red weather warning issued by the Government.
The temperature gradually picked up as the meeting progressed and by the time of the 800m events the track surface temperature was recorded at 50 degrees.
In the under 11s age group, victories came from Leah Poole and Holly Dutton in the A and B 75m with personal best times of 11.3 and 11.8secs respectively.
Warrington's 800m runners in the under 13s age group were almost completely dominant, with wins in the boys from Euan Lawton, Isaac McGuffie and Oliver Davenport in the B, C and D events while James Reason was second in the A.
Lawton's 2mins 31.6secs, McGuffie's 2mins 30.2secs and Davenport's 2mins 33.6secs were personal bests while Reason with 2mins 28.7secs was close to his.
In the girls' 800m events Eva Hayes, Emily Kinsey and Eva May Williams won the A, B and C races with 2mins 43.4secs, 2mins 45.1secs and 2mins 49.2secs respectively, while in the D race Annie Noone was second in 2mins 59.9secs.
Williams took 3.5 seconds off her personal best, while Noone equalled her best time.
Non scorers Grace Southerst and Scarlett Smith recorded 3mins 02.1secs and 3minutes 06.2secs with Southerst's time being a personal best.
The other winners in the age group were Olivia Crawford in the girls A 100m with 13.8sec and Thomas Darbyshire in the boys B 200m with 28.8secs – both personal best times.
In the under 15s age group, Caleb Adelani won the boys A 200m with 24.6secs while in the girls events Tiana Allday won the D 100m in 14.0secs, Esme Heavey won the A 800m with 2mins 24.2secs and Sarah Ashcroft won the B race in 2mins 30.1secs.
And in the under 17s age group, Ben Pucill won the A 800m in 2mins 07.1secs.
In the Senior age group Lisa Halliday and Alice Clare were double winners, with Halliday winning the 100m A in 13.4secs and the A long jump with 4.01m while Clare won the B 100m with 14.4secs and the B long jump with 3.12m.
