BURTONWOODSTOCK music and family festival will return this month.

It is taking place on Saturday, July 30 at The Club Burtonwood on Phipps Lane.

The festival – founded by Paul Wharton – had to miss a year due to coronavirus but went ahead in the last hour in 2021.

Lucy Smith from the events team said: “There was torrential rain all day but everyone didn’t really seem to care as they were out enjoying themselves.

“We are praying for sunshine this year.

“It’s a great event. We have a lot of talent in the local area and we want to be a part of promoting that to the wider community.

“We have some great acts across the two stages like George Young headlining the Courtyard Stage and an international touring ABBA tribute on the Main Stage and it’s all for free.”

There will also be various food stalls and children’s activities throughout the day at the festival.

From a personal point of view too, Lucy is pleased to be able to give back to a festival she has come full circle with.

The 31-year-old from Burtonwood continued: “We have a great team and everyone is really passionate about putting the event on. There is a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes and we have several sponsors we couldn’t do it without.

“I’m a sound engineer and I have toured as one for more than 13 years now. The Club itself gave me a good opportunity to develop my skills when I was younger and it’s nice for me to now be able to give something back as part of the events team.

“It’s nice to use my experience and help organise something that is so local to home.”

The festival opens at 12pm and the first act is on at 1pm. Entry is free.

Lucy encourages Warrington businesses to get in touch with The Club if they wish to sponsor the event.
