A CREEP who sexually pleased himself over footage covertly obtained of a woman as she showered and used the toilet has been jailed.
Kristian Kolar watched his victim as she undressed and slept after installing spy cameras, with police finding a collection of more than 25,000 images and videos of her on his laptops.
Officers also discovered disgusting images and videos of humans having sexual activity with animals among the 39-year-old’s depraved collection.
The defendant was told that his actions amounted to ‘visual rape’ of the woman and that only an immediate jail sentence was appropriate.
Kolar, who is originally from Serbia, was charged with voyeurism and possession of extreme pornographic images involving animals and was sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court on Tuesday.
David Watson, prosecuting, explained how the voyeurism charge covers a period of time stretching back from 2019, up until his arrest on September 26, 2020.
The victim was in her bedroom when she noticed for the first time an LED light above her bed, and on closer inspection, she discovered that the light was coming from a small camera.
Police were informed and a forensic examination of the device revealed recordings of her sleeping in bed, while the victim later horrifyingly also found another camera in her living room.
Following an investigation, the defendant was arrested and a number of devices were seized, including cameras, memory sticks and laptops.
Two cameras were found in his possession, and analysis of these revealed videos of the victim in her bathroom, which was described as the ‘inner sanctum of the home where privacy should be guaranteed’, of her naked, in the shower and using the toilet.
On one laptop, officers found 117 voyeuristic images and 23 videos, while there was also footage of the defendant installing the cameras.
Another laptop contained 20,315 voyeuristic images of the victim and 4,311 videos, including of her undressing in her bedroom, taking a shower and sleeping in bed.
As well as the voyeuristic material, police also found 17 images and two videos classed as extreme pornography, involving penetrative activity between women and animals.
The date range of the extreme pornography charge stretches from the defendant’s arrest in September 2020 all the way back to July 23, 2017.
Following his arrest, Kolar gave no comment during his police interview to all questions.
However, a report prepared for the court said that Kolar performed sex acts on himself while watching the sexual material recovered as he received sexual gratification from it.
In a statement, the victim said the very personal recordings made her feel ‘ashamed and embarrassed’, as well as that what happened was ‘really upsetting, causing her to cry a lot’.
She also had trouble sleeping due to worrying about more cameras, and had to take time off work as she could not function properly, leading to fears that she could lose her job.
Mr Watson informed the court that the defendant has no previous convictions, either during his seven years in the UK or back in Serbia.
In defence of his client, Jeremy Rawson said that he has demonstrated ‘clear regret and remorse’ through his guilty pleas at the first opportunity.
He described Kolar as a ‘hard working family man’ who has not offended again in the 21 months since his arrest and who has a ‘realistic prospect of rehabilitation’.
Before sentencing, recorder Ian Harris said: “In my judgement, her privacy was invaded insidiously for your own personal pleasure.
“For all intents and purposes, she was visually raped without her knowledge.
“This was determined, planned and calculated voyeurism for a long period, involving different cameras and the downloading of images onto your laptops.
“In my judgement, only immediate custody is appropriate for this kind of offending.
“The dual elements of punishment and deterrence outweigh any possibility of suspending the inevitable prison sentence.”
Kolar, of Ross Close in Old Hall, was jailed for 14 months
He must also comply with notification requirements for 10 years and abide by a restraining order not to contact or approach his victim for the same period.
In addition, an order was also approved for the forfeiture and destruction of the electronic devices seized by police.
