A DRUG dealer went to desperate attempts to avoid arrest after fleeing a property raided by police.
Ellis Kilbride attempted to throw drugs onto a roof while being chased by officers after a warrant was executed at a property on Farrell Street in Howley.
The 24-year-old, of no fixed address, was chased by officers on foot at around 5.25pm on Friday, June 3, while he discarded bags of crack cocaine from his trousers.
He was detained a short time later near to Wharf Street and continued to throw the drugs on to the roof of a nearby building.
Kilbride lashed out at the officer by pushing him in the chest as he resisted arrest.
He was then searched and arrested after a large amount of class A drugs and £2,980 in cash were seized.
Kilbride appeared at Liverpool Crown Court on Thursday and pleaded guilty to assaulting an emergency worker and possession with intent to supply crack cocaine.
He was sentenced on the same day to five years and seven months imprisonment.
DS Tom Hall, of Warrington local policing unit’s proactive team, said: “Kilbride arrest initially came from information provided by the local community in relation to allegations of youths buying drugs from two people at Brickfield Park.
“That information then led us to the property on Farrell Street and to Kilbride’s arrest.
“He made great attempts to evade police capture while discarding the drugs he was in possession of, and assaulting an officer, however it was not going to stop us.
“In cases like this, we do rely on information that is provided to us by members of the public, and I would encourage people to continue to contact us if they believe drug related activity is occurring in their community.”
