AN exhibition where fashion met art took place in a new town centre shop recently.

Angel in the House took place at Vintage Viola combining creatives in and around the area.

Little Nell – set up by former Priestley College student Sophie Nell – provided the upcycled and reworked clothes.

It makes use of the unloved and the discarded and is reborn with carefully chosen elements that offer the pieces a chance to be loved again.

Also at Angel in the House was macrame artist Sophie Edwards, creator of Just Driftin WallHangings, who is hugely inspired by nature and the ocean.

And so too was the corsetry and bridal work of Nicky Carty whose work was on the catwalk.

The presentations seen at Angel in the House were choreographed by dancer Sarah Bateman – who trained in dance ballet, tap and modern at KS Dance in Woolston.

The artwork on display involved creations from graphic designer Hollie Cookson who designs prints for music fans who want to add a pop of colour and lyrical genius to their homes.

Also exhibiting was Tony Green, who, after graduating from Central Saint Martins has worked on a variety of art and seasonal fashion projects for the iconic Parisian fashion house Sonia Rykiel, where he created illustrations, collection designs, prints and research concepts for the brand.

Latchford-born Sarah Harris, who works with people and communities to create art, also had her work displayed.

Her work on show at Angel in the House is part of an installation named Blissed Out that is based on being woken on a hazy summer Sunday morning by the sunrise.

Models and make-up artists all contributed to making the event a success too.

Sophie said: “The venue was the new Vintage Viola shop, Sharon Dunne stepped in to help when the original venue sadly closed, but the team were over the moon to have an even bigger space to work with.

“Additionally Little Nell is stocked in the Vintage Viola shop so the location was perfect.

“Thank you to everyone that came to the event.

There is another in November too

“Off the back of the success of the evening, another one is planned for November 26 at Counters and Parrs Bank.”

Sophie is on the search for Warrington creatives to submit art for an installation in the middle of the hall.

The show will take place between 7-11pm.
