A BOOK shop in Golden Square will welcome a renowned author for a bestselling book signing next week.
Waterstones will host Annabel Steadman - who writes as A.F Steadman - on Monday, July 4 between 4pm and 5pm.
She will be signing copies of Skandar and The Unicorn Thief after senior children’s bookseller at the shop, Rachel Bourke, reached out.
“Having championed Skandar and The Unicorn Thief since before it was released, I reached out to A.F. Steadman and her team and we managed to sort out a trip to Warrington,” said Rachel.
“I am beyond excited she is coming to sign copies of her book in-store.
“The children's book club we have here have all read the book and declared Skandar 'the best book they have ever read!' that includes Harry Potter.
“It truly is an unputdownable, page-turning, must-read for eight to 12-year-olds.
“I've read it four times, and it gets better and better - I cannot wait till book two is released next year.
“It is rare a series completely captures your imagination in this way, it takes a very special book and some pretty incredible writing to do so. I love introducing kids to fantastic new books, and I hope everyone loved Skandar as much as I do.”
The book is about a young boy called Skandar Smith who dreams of hatching his own unicorn which are dangerous, mythical and magical creatures that live on 'The Island'.
Dark forces are at work and the mysterious Weaver has captured the most powerful unicorn in the land and that means Skandar and his friends are united in an adventure.
Bradshaw Primary School and Broomfields Junior School will also get to hear about Steadman’s inspiration for the book and what it is like to be a bestselling author.
The event is free to attend at Waterstones and all are welcome. Visitors are encouraged to arrive early to avoid disappointment.
