THE Parr Hall has held some sensational gigs over its 125-year history with acts like The Rolling Stones, Lenny Kravitz and The Stone Roses.
In May, it played host to another special event as Elizabeth and Aaron Lilford chose the Warrington venue as the place to hold their wedding reception.
The new Mr and Mrs Ilford had a hog roast and were entertained by Peter Price and his band, who took to the stage to entertain the 200 wedding guests.
Elizabeth is 34 and from Padgate, and 30-year-old Aaron is from Latchford.
Here is the story of their wedding day, in their own words.
When and how did you meet?
Aaron: More than ten years ago through friends
Where and when did you get engaged?
Elizabeth: In Rhodes, Greece, at our favourite restaurant. It was a complete surprise.
When was the wedding and reception?
Aaron: It was on Saturday, May 14.
What was the location?
Aaron: The wedding was at St Oswald’s Church on Padgate Lane followed by a reception at The Parr Hall in Warrington.
How were you feeling on the morning of your wedding?
Elizabeth: Excited but nervous!
How would you describe your wedding?
Aaron: Informal – very laid back and relaxed.
How many guests did you have?
Aaron: 180 in the day and then 200 in total at night.
What did your guests eat?
Aaron: A cold buffet on arrival and then a hog roast.
Did you have a first dance?
Elizabeth: The Four Tops ‘Baby I Need Your Loving’, which is our favourite song.
Did you have speeches?
Elizabeth: Yes, they were great and very funny. The two best men, Joe Green and Anthony Whelan, did a speech and my brother Sean O’Brien did one too.
What are your favourite memories of the day?
Elizabeth: All of it was amazing.
Tell us a little bit about your outfits on the day?
Elizabeth: The bridesmaids wore navy and I wore white. I tried a few dresses on but eventually got my dress from Biscous Bridal on Padgate Lane. Katy who owns the shop was amazing.
Are you going on honeymoon?
We are going back to Rhodes where we got in engaged in August.
Is there anything else you would like to share with us about your wedding day?
Elizabeth: Just how brilliant it all was and how great The Parr Hall is for a wedding venue. People were surprised when we said we were having it there as not many people do. It was fantastic! We also had Peter Price and his band play and they were great.
