DESCRIBED as the UK’s Cecil Hotel, the Paddington House Hotel is one of the worst rated hotels in Warrington.

Currently rated at two out of five stars on TripAdvisor, the hotel, owned by OYO, is slammed as ‘absolutely vile’, ‘rotten’ and ‘incredibly dirty’ by some guests.

It was announced in November that the Manchester Road site had closed its doors to customers – and would instead house asylum seekers.

But the hotel’s reputation remains tarnished with hundreds of poor reviews left by disgruntled guests on TripAdvisor.

One claimed: “12 showers would not be enough to wash away the trauma of this place.

“It is absolutely vile. It is dirty, dated and deathly.

“Avoid at all costs.”

While another said: “This is a joke… right?

“How is this place allowed to exist?”

Warrington Guardian:

The cleanliness of the hotel left many guests unimpressed after their stay.

Some claimed the bath was rusty and there were holes in the wall while others claimed the site is ‘stained and dirty’ with everything fallen apart.

One guest even claimed that there was a blood clot in the bath and ‘brown sticky stuff’ all over the surfaces.

A number of TripAdvisor reviews left over the past year were from guests who booked the hotel for their visit to Warrington during Neighbourhood Weekender 2021.

However the majority were told just days before that their booking was cancelled due to no availability at the site.

And one festivalgoer whose booking wasn’t cancelled claimed they had wished they’d slept in their car rather than in the Paddington site.

When the Warrington Guardian contacted OYO for a comment, they said that the hotel has seen ‘substantial investment’ since its closure seven months ago.

A spokesperson from OYO UK, said: “The OYO Paddington House Hotel was taken off our online platform more than seven months ago and is not currently available for bookings.

“We are committed to ensuring that all our hotels provide a quality experience for guests and this property has seen substantial investment in the past seven months in line with this commitment.

“There is also scheduled to be a full refurbishment of the property before it becomes available for guests to book through the OYO platform again.”
