A KEEN writer, who spent months writing late at night, has published his first book about sex trafficking.
Five years ago Neal Sutton rarely read books, three years ago he had ideas for a novel and just more than one year ago, he spent time every night for months putting together his first story.
Now, his book has been published.
Neal, based in Houghton Green, has overcome mental health issues and the book has helped provide him with a focus.
“I think it’s hit me more so in the past couple of weeks with friends and family talking about it and I’ve felt proud,” said Neal.
“It was something I used to focus myself and direct my emotions into.
“I feel positive about it and very proud that I have done it.”
The book, called Eye of the Hawk is a crime – thriller novel published by Atmosphere Press.
Neal, who has lived in Lowton for most of his life, wanted to shed light on the issue in his book. He is inspired by series such as Baptiste and Luther.
The 30-year-old added: “It was something I noticed happens quite a lot.
“You sometimes see things about people going missing and sex trafficking is something that is quite prominent.
“I thought it was something I could write about. Obviously, it’s not going to be a James Patterson where it’s life-changing, it’s more of a hobby and if I make a success out of it, then great.
“It’s just to promote sex trafficking as I feel it’s very unrepresented in the media.”
Neal hopes to reach a wider audience in the coming months and has already started writing a sequel to it.
