Well its that time of year again were everyone starts to predict how the season is going to go and were we will finish in the Super League table at the end of September.
Obviously the expectation is very high this year with the signings we have made, and rightly so! but this competition is going to be so hard to call this year because the improvement of each squad is better then last season. even the likes of St Helens and Leeds that haven't recruited are going to come back fitter and stronger then last year! Its going to be one tough year.
The expectation is not only high from the supporters but also from the players. We have put a lot of hard work and preparation into this year and the fine details that have gone into our training schedule are better then any i have seen in any preseason i have had at warrington. i think the week away in lanzarote was a big week for all the guys, the training and meetings we had were really of benefit to everyone involved. Let me tell you it was no holiday, although there was beautiful sun shine that just adds to the torture of the sessions! the hotter it is the hard the floggings become, but its all good preparation for the season so its all good and we enjoyed it. Our new conditioner Paul stridgeon has definitely added something good to the team dynamics and he's doing a great job helping us prepare for the season, everyone feels fitter and stronger. The meetings that took place every night were really intense and the things said showed exactly how dedicated and determined all the players and coaching staff are to succeed this year.
This week we take on a Hull side that have already been rocked by a few injuries, but that will count for nothing when the whistle goes on friday night. The first game of the season is always tough and we wont be taking anything for granted! We will be looking forward to a strong, tough physical game. Hull FC have a very strong pack and this is one area we will need to win. Once we have won that battle then hopefully we can sit back and watch our back line score some great trys! It would be unfair to single any body out this week because everyone as trained the house down during the preseason and i am really looking forward to seeing the 17 players take the field and put that practise in to good use. COME ON LADS!
This week all the guys have been buzzing and really can't wait for Friday night, especially the new guys that have heard about the support we receive and the noise that is generated from you guys, hopefully you be there in force and making some noise to support the guys.
I will sadly be sat in the doug out cheering the guys on because i will only be fit to play in 2-3 weeks time. Myself and Stu reardon are the only casualties to start the season and after seeing a specialist on Tuesday together we were told to expect to be fit in 2-3 weeks.
After being asked to do this blog again during the season I hope you enjoy reading it and hopefully i have more to write about other then injuries unlike last season.
Speak soon, Woody.
