Warrington Guardian Best Of 2022 top eight breakfasts revealed

Next up we wanted to know where to go for the best breakfast.

Whether it’s a simple bacon sandwich, thick cut toasted bread with butter and jam or a full English – the choice of what to have for breakfast is endless.

Everyone has their favourite breakfast items but we want to know where in Warrington serves the best food to start the day.

Do you prefer your eggs scrambled, poached or fried?

Would you add ketchup or brown sauce to a bacon sandwich?

We wanted you to tell us which restaurant, café or pub provides the best breakfast in town, whether it was somewhere offering a sit down table service or a quick takeaway option from a roadside truck – the choice was yours!

We’ve shortlisted the top six, who will battle it out to be named Best for Breakfast in Warrington.

Now we need your help to choose an overall Best for Breakfast winner from our shortlist.

There are three ways to vote:

1. Search for the Best Of post on our Warrington Guardian Facebook or Instagram pages and comment under the post with the name of your winner = 1 vote

2. Name your favourite in the comments section on this article via our website = 2 votes

3. Purchase a copy of this week’s Warrington Guardian (June 16 edition) and fill in the entry form = 5 votes

With recommendations saying “undoubtedly the best in town” and “simply the best”, Toast in Latchford was a must for our shortlist, especially when one of their customers has made up a poem about the cafe.

One nomination said: “The service is fantastic with amazing breakfasts.”

Another happy customer said: “Their food is fresh, delicious and great value and the coffee is lovely!”

McDee’s Coffee Shop in Culcheth

One recommendation said: “We stopped off here for breakfast and what can I say?

“It’s absolutely amazing.

“So tasty and the staff and very friendly and welcoming.

“I’d definitely recommend it, especially the avocado special.”

Their range of fruit teas also got a thumbs up.

Another nomination said: “The coffee is great, the breakfast is gorgeous and they have lovely homemade cakes.

“The staff are always so friendly.”

Poppies in The Woodlands, Great Sankey

There were several nominations for this popular destination in Great Sankey inside The Woodlands with small and large breakfast options to suit all appetites.

One said: “They have friendly staff and a lovely relaxing atmosphere to go with the really enjoyable cooked breakfast.”

Another said they’d met up with a friend for brunch and received great service and wonderful food.

A third happy customer said: “We weren’t disappointed.

“Gorgeous surroundings and the food was delicious – piping hot and served quickly.

“Bonus points for serving up a fresh gluten free breakfast including toast and coffee for my husband!”

Mrs O’s Café, Parr Street, Warrington

With one satisfied customer saying they “wouldn’t order breakfast from anywhere else as the tomato sausages are to die for”, we knew this venue would be a contender.

The nomination added: “The food always arrives hot and is so tasty and well presented.”

Another said: “Mrs O’s Café is by far the best and is reasonably priced with lovely friendly staff in a small business.”

Based inside Penketh Police Station, this venue is popular with the locals.

One happy customer said: “This place is filled with community spirit and a breakfast is £6.50 – a bargain!”

A reader said they serve “the best breakfasts in Warrington” at this popular café with breakfasts, lunch and desserts being the go to items on the menu.

Mrs Massey’s Munchies at The Imperial Hotel on Bewsey Road

A satisfied customer said: “Fantastic breakfasts with great size portions.

“They’re well worth the price and they come with a happy friendly service.”

Delicious bacon barms are popular and the full English breakfast is always a winner.
