A network of flaming tributes to the Queen will stretch throughout the country on Thursday.

Beacons marking the Platinum Jubilee will be lit at 9.45pm at sites including the Tower of London, Windsor Great Park, Hillsborough Castle and the Queen’s estates of Sandringham and Balmoral, along with the tops of the UK’s four highest peaks.

The first beacons will be lit in Tonga and Samoa in the South Pacific, and the final one in the central American country of Belize.

The principal beacon outside the Palace – a 21-metre-tall Tree of Trees sculpture for the Queen’s Green Canopy initiative – will be illuminated by a senior member of the royal family, and images will be projected on to the Palace.

And three will be lit in Warrington.

The festivities will start at 2pm on Thursday with Town Crier, Peter Powell, reading an official proclamation from Lymm Cross followed by tea and cakes in the village hall.

The evening will see the main Lymm event with the roads closing at the Lower Dam from 8pm.

In partnership with Lymm Radio, the evening will consist of songs from each of the Queen’s seven decades on the throne as well as performances from the choirs of Lymm.

A piper and bugler will precede the official beacon lighting which takes place at 9.45pm.

Immediately after the beacon lighting, the choirs of Lymm will unite to sing the official song for The Commonwealth - A Life filled with Grace.

The evening will finish with a community sing-song of God Save The Queen and Land of Hope and Glory, led by Lymm’s choirs.

GRAPPENHALL AND THELWALL >

A packed programme of events is in place for the jubilee in Grappenhall and Thelwall.

Events will take place in the run up to the weekend and throughout.

A beacon lighting will take place on Thursday, June 2 at Grappenhall Heys Green, near to the walled garden.

A parade will make its way from the parish council offices, led by a piper, before the lighting at 9.45pm.

PENKETH >

A Beacon Lighting Ceremony will take place at Penketh Gardens.

There will be live music, a bugler, a bagpiper, and witness the lighting of the permanent Jubilee Beacon structure that has been commissioned by Penekth Parish Council. Refreshments will be available to purchase on-site from Penketh Scouts.

Entry from 8pm with the beacon lighting ceremony from 9pm.

Residents are advised to gather at Southworth Hall Farm from 9pm.

Patriotic music and the beacon bonfire lighting will then take place.

People are advised to wear red, white and blue as well as bringing their flags.
