A POPULAR Cultural Quarter restaurant in Warrington has been nominated for a United Kingdom wide award.
Mr Lau’s, based on Springfield Street, has been recognised by The Golden Chopsticks Awards - a ceremony which recognises East and South East Asian cuisine across the UK.
Pamela Lau, who runs the restaurant, said: “It feels great to be nominated.
“We were contacted by The Golden Chopsticks Awards and they informed me that we were nominated by members of the public and voting closes on June 27.
“Only the top three finalists get the chance to go to the awards ceremony in London, it would be a once in a lifetime experience to get there.”
Mr Lau’s – which is celebrating its 10th year this year – has a team and a food offering that helps make it what it is, says Pamela.
She continued: “We have great local support, Mr Lau’s has become an integral part of Warrington. We celebrate so many special occasions with the people of Warrington, and beyond.
“We have seen and experienced the changes of the town centre. I’m so proud to be part of the Cultural Quarter, from being one of the first businesses to open there and now it’s a destination area.
“I’m so proud of my team; my chefs have a wealth of experience and skill bringing the highest quality Chinese food.
“My front of house team are passionate about hospitality, they are welcoming, professional and above all resilient.
“The pandemic has been testing for everyone, as a business we had to be versatile and my staff enabled the transition from being a great restaurant to offering a great takeaway service.
“The food and the team make Mr Lau’s as you know it.”
Pamela would be so pleased if they were to win.
“It would be more than pleasing, it would be a sign of recognition,” added Pamela.
“Recognition for all the hard work that has been put into Mr Lau’s, to build it, sustain it and keep bettering it for the future.
