GRAPPENHALL Cricket Club first XI got their first win of the season on Saturday at home to Alvanley.
The visitors batted first and we dismissed for a lowly 98, with Leicestershire bowler Eddie Barnes picking up four wickets and Australian Nick Woods chipping in with three wickets.
Grappers chased down the total with little alarm, for the loss of three wickets with Kieran Lawton finishing on 44 not out.
The seconds got the best of the draw points away at Upton.
Grappers batted first and posted a below par 153-9 off their 50 overs with captain Graeme Rowlands contributing 41.
Upton lost wickets regularly and never really got near chasing down the total, as they hung on at the end, nine wickets down, 33 runs short.
Grappers picked up 11 points compared to their hosts' six points.
The thirds' tough start to life in Division One continued with a heavy defeat to Heaton Mersey.
Grappers batted first and were dismissed for just 74, Lloyd Milligan top scoring with 23.
Heaton Mersey made short work of the target in just 23 overs but Grappers did pick up four wickets along the way.
The over 40s made it two wins from two to start the season as they beat Davenham away by 11 runs. The 40s host Sale at Broad Lane this Wednesday.
