WARRINGTON Borough Council says it has no objections to plans to build four new hangars at an airstrip.
The buildings would be constructed on the land west of Kenyon Hall Farm under an application submitted to Wigan Council by the Lancashire Aero Club.
Three existing portable buildings – which are used for providing refreshments, toilet facilities, office space and storage – and car parking spaces would be relocated as part of the proposals.
Warrington Borough Council confirmed this week it would not be objecting to the bid.
Submission documents stated: “The proposal is to allow the club to move forward by providing improved facilities for members, including storage.
“Aircraft hangars would be used for the storage of small recreational aircraft, and typically one or two aircraft would be stored in each hangar.
“The scale of the proposed development represents the recreational scale of the club. The four hangars would not be excessive in size, and would be no larger than would reasonably be expected to store a typical two-person recreational aircraft.
“These hangars would appear simple structures in their appearance, of an appropriate design typically found in rural settings.
“They would be similar in construction and materials as to many agricultural buildings found in rural locations.
“The portacabins are simply, low key functional structures and represent no more than is reasonable for this flying club.
“This club has functioned on this site without cause for complaint and the site happily sits alongside the surrounding agricultural fields, small woodland areas and grouping of agricultural buildings.”
