ONE of the biggest events on the calendar in Lymm returns on May 21.

Lymm May Queen has moved back to its traditional May date and will celebrate the Queen's jubilee.

Kath Buckley, chair of the festival, said: "We hope that our festival will give a lift and cheer to the village. Our theme this year is the Queen’s jubilee.

"It is also 70 years of Disney – so we might get a few Disney princesses in the procession as well. It is a privilege once more to be a chair of the May Queen as it is such a significant and historic event central to the heart of Lymm.

"The committee has decided that we are back to charging a nominal sum for entrance to the field – but all donations are welcome. "

This year we are hoping to build upon previous year’s successes. There will be even more stalls to enjoy, with plenty of food and drink to cater for all tastes while the rides will yet again cater for all the family. There will be a variety of events in the arena.

Kath added: "This year we have had yet again new members join who are making a significant contribution to the team and are helping to continue to give the event a focused way forward. Many thanks to the team of volunteers who are making this event happen."

May Queen will be Fay Griffiths and the Rose Queen will be Lilly Rafferty.

The procession starts at 12pm.
