PRIMARY SCHOOL PUPIL OF THE YEAR WINNER
ANEESHWAR Kunchala may only be seven but he has already won several awards for his efforts to raise awareness of the natural world and conservation.
The St Philip Westbrook CE Primary School pupil jumped with excitement when he found out he had won a Warrington Guardian Education Award.
“Aneeshwar, I saw you jump up with joy. Tell us what it means to win this award,” said awards host Elaine Willcox.
The seven-year-old said: “Oh it is great, I can’t believe it. I just can’t believe that I won. I am just so happy, I could just jump up in delight.”
Aneeshwar spoke about how he first fell in love with nature and the environment when he was in reception.

He said: “I started to like nature when I was about four or five.
“My teacher in reception showed me a picture of a dead whale who died from plastic and then I told it to my parents even though she said keep it a secret.
“And then we thought of making some short videos too.
“I started to do all of these documentaries and the first one was about snails and then I went on to the magnificent tigers at Chester Zoo and I even fed one! It was so good.”
Aneeshwar is inspired by David Attenborough and especially Steve Backshall.
“Steve Backshall does amazing videos on ocelots,” he said.
“I am just so inspired by him.
“He even did a video with a tiger but I was able to do something beyond this, I was able to feed a tiger. Although not by hand, as they may eat me!”
He added: “My favourite part about nature is all of the water and wetlands – it is just so good to see them and admire them.
“Did you know that sparrows aren’t really a wetland bird but they can swim?”
Aneeshwar’s favourite animals are wolves and kingfishers.
Talking about kingfishers, Aneeshwar said: “They are a bright blue strike of light – they are so beautiful. And my favourite colour is blue as well.”
Elaine said: “Congratulations Aneeshwar you are a very worthy winner. And keep up your fantastic work, it is so important.”
