GREAT Sankey youngsters received a visit from the fire brigade who assisted them with their history project.
Penketh Fire Service came out to Great Sankey Primary School to help key stage one pupils experience how easy it would have been for the houses to set alight during the Great Fire of London.
The pupils had been studying the historic fire throughout the half term.
The fire crew also stayed behind to give the children a talk around fire safety and let them see the truck and equipment.
However the visit came to an abrupt end after the team received an emergency call for them to attend an incident – so they rushed off from the Liverpool Road school with their blue lights flashing.
Lisa Wilding, head of school, said: “It was a great experience for the children and a brilliant way for them to end the topic.
“We extend our thanks to Penketh Fire station.”
