WARRINGTON Wolves say they "strongly condemn" the actions of a group of youths who damaged Castleford Tigers supporters' buses following last night's game between the sides.
The Wire defeated the Tigers 34-10 in their first home game of the new Super League season at the Halliwell Jones Stadium, however the match was marred with violence outside afterwards.
Cheshire Police have opened an investigation into the incident and the club say they are working with them to identify the perpetrators.
"We strongly condemn the actions that led to the coach being targeted and damaged and we offer our sincere apologies to the travelling supporters affected for the distress caused," a club statement read.
"We are working with the local authorities to establish the facts and identify those responsible.
"No further comment will be made at this stage of the investigation."
A large group of youths blocked an official Castleford supporters coach on the junction of Dallam Lane and Tanners Lane at around 10pm.
They then threw stones and bricks while visiting rugby supporters were on board, causing damage to three windows.
The youths are described as white and were all wearing dark coloured hooded tops.

It is reported that a large number of supporters were left stranded for hours while a replacement coach was sourced from Yorkshire.
The Tigers have released their own statement saying they are "appalled" by the incident.
They have also offered those affected free coach travel to a 2022 away fixture of their choice.
"Castleford Tigers are appalled by a group of people who attacked a travelling supporters bus following the league fixture between the Tigers and Warrington Wolves," they said.
"The incident happened around 10pm on Thursday, 17th February 2022 shortly after the bus had left the Halliwell Jones Stadium on the junction of Dallam Lane & Tanners Lane.
"This left our supporters, who traveled on a cold and stormy Thursday night to cheer on their team, waiting hours for a replacement bus service to get home safely.
"The Tigers are working closely with both Cheshire Police and Warrington Wolves to identify the people directly involved and those associated with the troublesome group.
"Castleford Tigers will be actively pursuing lifetime bans from entry to not only our own home ground but all rugby league stadia."
