ANOTHER weather warning has been issued for the region with ice predicted from this evening, Friday.

Cheshire and Merseyside residents are already being told to stay at home due to the threat posed by winds brought through Storm Eunice.

However, the Met Office has now issued a yellow weather warning for ice, which will come into force from 6pm this evening and remain in place until 9am tomorrow morning, Saturday.

A mixture of wintry showers and clear spells are likely to lead to a cold night, with some icy stretches developing on untreated surfaces, forecasters are warning.

Residents are being urged to stay cautious to prevent injury caused from slips and falls on icy surfaces.

Warrington Guardian:

A Met Office spokesman said: “Brisk northwesterly winds will continue to bring increasingly wintry showers across this area overnight on Friday and at first on Saturday.

“Some snow is likely to accumulate over around 200m, with another 10 to 15cm over Scottish mountains.

“However, the wintry mix is more likely to bring a risk of icy roads and pavements, as surfaces left wet by showers, hail, snow and slush then fall below freezing.

“Most showers will ease by Saturday morning.”
