THE council is being urged to ask parked cars to move during street cleans to ensure leaves are cleared amid concerns over the issue.
The issue arose during the scrutiny committee meeting at the Town Hall on Wednesday.
Cllr Peter Walker (LD – Stockton Heath) said: “A lot of leaves are not picked up. A lot of leaves are not picked up because of parked cars, but it is quite possible to ask cars to remove themselves when a street is requiring cleaning.
“I do recommend that we do that more often.”
He said ‘there are still leaves on the ground from when they dropped off last year’, adding he does not find it acceptable.
On the issue of clearing leaves, Lynton Green, the council’s director of corporate services and deputy chief executive, said he can ‘take that away’ for Dave Boyer and his team ‘perhaps to come back with a response’.
Mr Boyer is the council’s director of transport and environment.
