WARRINGTON Wolves hooker Daryl Clark has announced wonderful family news just as the new season is about to start.

He and his wife Leigh are expecting their second baby in August.

Luna Roux, who is 17 months old, is to become a big sister.

The announcement was made on Instagram and congratulations messages have been left from not only his Wire teammates but rugby league players from rival clubs too.

Clark, who married Leigh in December, 2019, is about to start his eighth season in primrose and blue.

The Wire have their opening 2022 Super League game away to Leeds Rhinos on Saturday, February 12.

It is a campaign in which Clark is reunited with his first head coach, Daryl Powell.

When the pair worked together at Castleford Tigers between 2011 and 2014 Clark won the most prestigious individual accolade going in Super League, the Steve Prescott Man of Steel Award.

Since then he has gone on to become a regular England international and will have his sights on representing his country in the Rugby League World Cup next autumn.

With The Wire, he has appeared in three Challenge Cup Finals - winning one against St Helens in 2019 - and two Grand Finals.

He also helped the team win the League Leaders' Shield in 2016.
