WARRINGTON has received a renewal of its Fairtrade status until December 2023.
The town has held the status since 2006 and has now maintained this status for 16 successive years following public support.
The renewal is recognition of the hard work of many people and organisations across the town and allows residents to support better working conditions for farmers and workers across the world through shopping choices and awareness.
A renewal certificate was presented to mayor Cllr Maureen Creaghan at the FairAall stand – the town’s only Fairtrade shop - at Warrington Market.
Volunteers and members of the Fairtrade Steering Group attended the event.
A spokesperson for the group said: “Thank you to the Mayor and her consort for attending and the continued great work of the volunteers at the stall.”
