THE number of new coronavirus cases being recorded weekly in Warrington is at its lowest point since mid-December.
During the week up to January 25, which is the most recent period for which data is available, 1,601 new cases of Covid-19 were detected in the town.
This takes into account lab-reported tests and positive rapid lateral flow tests that do not have a negative confirmatory lab-based PCR test within 72 hours.
It demonstrates an infection rate of 764.6 cases among every 100,000 residents, which is the 276th highest rate in the UK at present compared with all other local authority areas.
This rate of virus transmission in the town is at its lowest point since December 16.

Comparatively, the previous seven-day period up to January 18 saw 1,982 cases recorded at a rate of 946.5.
This is according to data published on the Government’s online coronavirus dashboard.
Data for the most recent days, January 26 to 30, has been excluded as it is incomplete and does not reflect the true number of cases.
