In his fourth season at the club but still to enjoy a year free from serious injury, the Wolves have kept faith with Grix after seeing evidence of his outstanding potential during his spell in the first team during 2006. A genuine ball-playing loose forward who featured in both the three-quarter line and at stand off while playing for his hometown club of Halifax, Grix was highly decorated as a junior representative player, with England Schools caps at every level from U15 level upwards, and was a member of the victorious England Academy tour of Australia and New Zealand in 2004. He turned professional from King Cross ARLFC, Halifax, making 6 Super League appearances for Fax during their relegation season in 2003, and scoring 6 tries in 13 National League One games in 2004. Was approached by Australian club Newcastle Knights before choosing to sign for Wolves in 2005; Grix's final appearance for Halifax was at stand off in their dramatic NL1 Qualifying Series Final comeback against York which preserved their NL1 status.
