CAN you say you’ve ever seen a wedding cake like this before?
The answer is probably not.
Fearnhead business To Pie For, owned by Lindsay James and Shane Nield, have been making pork pie wedding cakes that are to die for.
The Station Road shop is once again taking bookings for the cakes available in three of four tiers that can feature different flavours.
Lindsay said: “We did one for a friend’s wedding free of charge when we started up and everyone was just like ‘oh my god, wow. This is amazing’. We have had really good feedback.
“They have since gone down amazingly. Customers can get samples because each tier is a different flavour and then they can figure out which flavours they want.
“It’s not just that it looks good, it tastes good as well because half of them on the cake have won awards at the British Pie Awards.
“It’s like an award-winning pork pie wedding cake.”
Lindsay – a former pupil at William Beamont High School and Sir Thomas Boteler C Of E High School – takes pride in the businesses take on pies.
The 45-year-old added: “Being different is definitely the best bit of it. I think that’s why we are being successful because we are different to all the other pie producers and shops.
“We made ones with cheese and then we decided to bring in pork pies. We do get a lot of requests for them.
“The variety that we do is great and includes pie and mash, the award-winning pies and personalised celebratory cakes.
“We do get a lot of customers who come in the shop who are travelling from here, there and everywhere saying that they have heard we are the best pie shop in the whole of the north west and there is not a pie shop that comes close to us.”
“We are very proud to do what we do.”
