A KEY road on the way to Warrington was closed due to a police incident after concerns for the welfare of a man this morning, Monday.
The A557 Watkinson Way in Widnes was shut both ways and then just northbound after the incident between Derby Road and junction seven of the M62 for Rainhill Stoops.
A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: "At 7.30am, police were called regarding concerns for the welfare of a man on a bridge on Watkinson Way.
"A temporary road closure was put in place on the A557 and specially trained officers attended the scene and spoke with the man.
"At 9.45am he came down off the bridge and has been taken to hospital to be checked over. The road has since fully reopened."
