More than 500 new Covid-19 cases have been recorded across Halton in the latest 24-hour period.
According to figures released by Public Health England, 559 people in and around the town tested positive for coronavirus.
This takes the borough's respective total since the pandemic began to 30,220.
In neighbouring Warrington, there were 568 new cases, taking its total to 47,920.
The latest daily update means 1,844 Halton residents have tested positive in the last week, taking the borough's seven-day case rate to 1,421.1 per 100,000 of the population.
In Warrington, 3,229 new cases were recorded in the same period, which takes the borough's seven-day case rate to 1,542.
Nationally, a total of 189,846 new Covid-19 cases were recorded.
