AS 2021 comes to an end, we have taken a look back at the Warrington Guardian’s most liked Instagram posts of the year.

Here are our top 10 posts:

1. A post to mark the five-year anniversary since the tragic loss of Viola Beach.

As our former reporter David Morgan wrote: “The shock may have worn off, but the sadness very much endures and it has become a moment in Warrington’s collective recent history which has become etched in our memories.”

 

 

 

2. We remembered 12-year-old Tim Parry and three-year-old Johnathan Ball. March 20, 2021, marked 28 years since the Warrington bombing. We remember them that day, and every day.

 

 

 

3. At third is a lockdown success story. A new fabric store launched in April just as the government’s roadmap saw Covid restrictions start to ease in the town. Stephanie Lyon transformed the former Prince of Wales pub on Winwick Street after overwhelming support for her online business.

 

 

 

4. This amazing shot of Creamfields Music Festival taken by Sarah Knight proved to be popular. The pictures were taken at 1,000 ft. 587

 

 

 

5. Warrington town centre came alive on April 12 with a new sense of vibrancy after restrictions started to ease in the town. Warrington Market and the Golden Square were packed.

 

 

 

6. We celebrated Mona Swindell’s 105th birthday. Mona has been a Warringtonian all of her life!

 

 

 

7. Stockton Heath brother, Christian and Ross Laing, launched their own sock company to raise awareness of down syndrome. Stand Out Socks is inspired by Ross who is funny, charismatic, social and fun.

 

 

 

8. We celebrated the wonderful Great Sankey resident Minnie Bailey’s 100th birthday.

 

 

 

9. This beautiful picture was taken by a Warrington Camera Club member Allan Mason. It captures artist Luke Jerram’s Floating Earth at Pennington Flash last month.

 

 

 

10. And finally, we celebrated Stockton Heath’s Liam Rogers who made the MasterChef: The Professionals final. We cannot wait to see what comes next for Liam.
