A TRUCK driver has been charged with causing the death of a cyclist by careless driving.
David Clarke, from Longbarn, is facing the charge in connection with the death of army veteran Joseph Clarke in Trafford in June last year.
The 28-year-old was riding a Correra push bike on the afternoon of Friday, June 12 2020, when he was involved in a collision with a Mercedes lorry on Ashburton Road West.
He was rushed to hospital but died of his injuries a week later.
Fifty-seven-year-old David Clarke, of Blackburne Close, appeared before Manchester Magistrates Court on Tuesday, December 7, in order to face the charge of causing death by careless driving.
Around £3,000 was raised in memory of Joseph Clarke, who served with the forces in Afghanistan, following his passing.
Tributes posted on a JustGiving page dedicated to him stated: “No words will ever fully express how loved Joe is and how much he will be missed.
“Gone but never forgotten.”
