A KIND-HEARTED granddad got on his grandson's scooter for a remarkable charity effort.

Chris Harrison, from Orford, took to the four-year-old's Spiderman scooter to travel six and a half miles from Widnes Ice Rink to the Golden Gates in Warrington town centre.

And he did it all in an hour.

It is the latest wacky fundraiser from Chris, who along with wife Tracey supports the Christmas appeal at the Children's Adventure Farm near Lymm.

He asked for donations of both cash and selection boxes, and he used the cash to buy boxes.

In total he collected/donated 300 selection boxes.

It took him just over an hour to complete his challenge, and he was cheered on and supported by his family and friends.

This is the third year Chris and Tracey have supported the Selection Box Appeal, in total they’ve collected and donated 910 selection boxes.

Back in 2019, the couple dropped off 426 selection boxes at Warrington Fire Station.

That was after Chris pushed a lawnmower for five miles on November 9 and asked for donations of selection boxes from his family and friends.

In 2018, the Orford couple donated 170 selection boxes after asking guests at their 30th wedding anniversary party not to buy them presents.

Instead, they asked guests to donate boxes for the appeal.
