PLANS for a large container to be put on spare land next to Sankey Station have been thrown out.
Council planners say the scheme would not be acceptable due to the size of the container.
They added: "The proposed container would not be acceptable in terms of its impact on the character, appearance and attractiveness of the site and its setting and would not contribute to making a high quality place by reason of its incongruity, in terms of scale, appearance and use of materials."
A businessman wanted to add the container to hold stock due to the uncertainty around Brexit and the coronavirus pandemic.
Plans were submitted to Warrington Borough Council to place the container on land off Station Road which previously had a large portable unit on it.
This was pulled down due to poor condition, but a replacement is now needed, planning documents stated.
They add: "The reason for the request to site a container is due to the up and coming Brexit situation and current Covid 19 epidemic.
"I own two businesses in the Warrington area and to maintain continuity of employment for my staff I have had to order large amounts of stock.
"I currently pay for this stock to be held in temporary storage which is expensive.
"The proposed container will be accessed on an ad hoc basis possibly twice a week by a transit type vehicle therefore minimum vehicular traffic."
