WARRINGTON Wolves a launching a first in global rugby league.

They are going to be marking the unveiling of their 2022 home and away kits with a series of collectable digital artworks that can be bought as Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs).

This will give supporters and collectors the opportunity to own a unique piece of digital content ahead of the new season.

The seven collectable pieces of digital content will be officially launched this Thursday and will include a square animated image of the new 2022 home and away kits worn by marquee half-back George Williams alongside an animated signature.

Shirts 1-6 will be launched as fixed price listings, with Williams’ number 7 shirt being offered via auction.

Each asset will also have what is known as ‘Unlockable Content’ which is only available for the lucky collectors who manage to purchase the NFT or win the auction.

And each purchaser will receive a personalised video message from Williams for shirts 1-6 and then some of the (funny) outtakes that were captured when filming to be included in shirt 7.

The owners of the NFTs will also be sent a physical shirt that will be signed by Williams and framed.

The Wire have collaborated with specialist NFT services company NFT Workx, alongside creative design from JRNMO, to be at the forefront of the blockchain based digital marketplace.

Details of how you can own one of the prestigious seven pieces will be issued tomorrow, Wednesday.

Warrington Wolves chief executive Karl Fitzpatrick said: “Being progressive and innovative are two of our core values.

“Entering into this space allows us to not only engage further with our supporters but also presents opportunities to expose the Warrington Wolves brand to a new audience, the digital community.

“To be the sport's first club to release a set of NFTs demonstrates our ambition and willingness to embrace modern technology and be at the forefront of new media and digital platforms.”

Adam Leese, co-founder of NFT Workx, added: “Working with Warrington Wolves on their first NFT project has been an exciting one, especially as they will be the first rugby league club in the world to fully launch an NFT project.

“Karl (Fitzpatrick) and his team are really forward thinking and they fully appreciate the potential NFTs can have for the club and we are already working on plans for the next project.”
