A NEWTON icon's song that earned him hero status among many features in a popular video game.
Rick Astley's memorable ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’ is one of the songs included in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy video game, which came out on October 26.
The pop star spoke about the song’s inclusion on the Guardian of the Galaxy’s social media channels
"It's kind of strange to have released a song in 1987, and then all those years later it gets a new lease on life that I don't think any record producer, writer, artist, anybody could ever even imagine that. Because when we did it, there was no internet,” Rick, 55, said.
And he is best pleased to be involved in the video game.
Rick added: “Once you get into a game that is great you really want to get into it. If there’s music in there that’s pinging off little messages to kids like ‘if you like this, then maybe you should listen to this’, that is amazing.

“The music actually features so much in the script of it, it’s not just background. How the main character reacts a lot of the time of because of the music that they are listening to.
“That is pretty amazing for anyone that makes music, that is such an opportunity to have a track in a game because it is part of it.”
