EMPLOYEES from a Warrington company were given the day off to celebrate the company’s 25th anniversary.

ICC Solutions Limited, based on Wilderspool Causeway, started out in 1966 with three staff members and a ‘big dream’.

25 years later, the company now exports to over 100 countries, has numerous awards under its belt and is now using its skills and experience to help others.

Employees celebrated the special occasion with a party held in Palmyra Square on Thursday evening, and were given the Friday off to enjoy a long weekend.

In what was the ‘brain child’ of David Maisey O.B.E, the company has been a ‘driving force’ in the migration and adoption of EMV testing around the world – allowing people to make secure payments with their chip card or phone.

Since 2001, ICC Solutions has won numerous awards and accolades, including four Queen’s Awards for International Trade and Innovation in 2012, 2016 and 2017.

David said: “Being such a successful exporter has given us tremendous knowledge and experience, enabling us to support others navigating their export journey.

“Not only do we assist businesses across the UK, but we have also used this experience to work with the Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards – designing and implementing an exporting Skill for young people working towards their DofE Award.

“It has truly been a rewarding project, and we hope to inspire young people to find a new generation of exporters”.

The ultimate acknowledgement for David and Wendy Maisey, the Directors at ICC Solutions, came when they each were awarded an O.B.E. in the Queen’s 2020 New Year Honours List for services to International Trade and the UK economy.

Wendy Maisey O.B.E said: “David and I wanted to give back and have a great awareness of local and national charities that need our support.

“With that in mind, we have chosen three charities including Warrington Youth Zone that we particularly want to have a significant involvement in and are delighted to be able to support them.

“Creating local employment and training through apprenticeships is a passion of mine.

“We need a skilled workforce in Warrington, and we’re proud to be able to provide careers in a very niche market.

“During the last 25 years in business there have been many challenges but being recognised by Her Majesty the Queen in 2020 by each being awarded an O.B.E. for our services to the UK, in particular Northern Powerhouse Export Champions, was a truly humbling and exceptional experience.”
