A MEETING was held with a festival organiser to discuss issues which had risen during this year’s Creamfields festival.
A number of important issues were raised – traffic management, security, the clear up following the event and litter following the festival.
The meeting was held at St John's Church Hall in Walton and involved the Warrington South MP, Andy Carter, deputy police and crime commissioner, David McNeileige, Appleton borough councillor, Mark Jervis, and festival director, John Probyn.
Around 30 members of the public also attended to raise issues and concerns regarding the festival.
Mr Carter said: “Creamfields has grown over the years and contributes significant economic benefit to the town but it does cause some disruption for people living near to the site which straddles two Council areas.
“I’m working with local residents to ensure their opinions are heard by organisers and that the licensing authorities and police recognise that some changes may be necessary to keep both local residents and festival goers safe.
“I’m very grateful to those residents who came to the debrief, we’ve agreed to hold further open meetings in the coming months to improve communication on all sides.”
