KEY roads through Lymm and High Legh will have their speed limit lowered.
Part of the A56 Higher Lane approaching the traffic lights by the Jolly Thresher, Burford Lane, Warrington Lane, High Legh Road and Agden Lane will all change from 40mph zones to 30pmh zones.
And a 40mph speed limit will now be imposed on a section of Burford Lane, Warrington Lane, Mill Lane and High Legh Road, having been 50mph zones.
Andy Openshaw, who was a driving force in the campaign, said: “Burford Lane residents are delighted that the evidence we gathered and presented with the support and cooperation of the local PCSO’s , Lymm Parish Council - particularly Kath Buckley - and the team at Warrington Borough Council Highways Department has resulted in these speed limit amendments.
“We owe a massive thanks to Sonia Tasker for her energy and persistence to complete the speed limit review.”
Regarding the changes, Cllr Kath Buckley was also best pleased.
“Fantastic news just received the information from Warrington Borough Council that the speeding limits are finally changing on Burford Lane,” she wrote.
“Well done again to all who campaigned on this. I was very happy to support them over the years. Thank you also to the officers who gave us advice and helped us in our aim to lower the speed limits.
“Thank you also to Lymm PCSOs who helped the campaign team to get the data they needed to prove their case.”
The order comes into effect from tomorrow, September 16.
